MSI has been steadily expanding its footprint in the high-end PC component space, and they recently unveiled what might be one of the most interesting power supplies we have seen in years. While building a massive, high-wattage power supply is nothing new, doing something genuinely innovative with the platform is rare. MSI aims to tackle the industry-wide anxiety surrounding modern high-power graphics cards and the controversial 12V-2x6 (and previously 12VHPWR) connectors.
Today we are looking at their flagship offering, the MPG Ai1600TS. This is a 1600 W unit that carries an 80 Plus Titanium certification and features a heavy-duty C19 mains connector. Fully adhering to the ATX 3.1 and PCIe 5.1 standards, its main point of interest is GPU Safeguard+, which is an onboard MCU that monitors the current flowing through every individual pin of the two native 12V-2x6 connectors. Coming in a large 190 mm chassis, this unit is built for ultra high-end enthusiasts who demand immense, stable power and total peace of mind.
