We've seen a number of decent compact sub $100 microATX cases over the last couple of years, and Lian Li itself in collaboration with DAN Cases was behind one of the best with the very affordable A3-mATX. It's from identical beginnings that the B4-mATX finds its way onto our test bench. However, this isn't a re-spun version of that original case, but something that's quite different. Here we have a convertible case that's able to switch between horizontal and vertical layouts with minimal fuss, yet still maintains excellent air and liquid-cooling support as well as allowing for ATX PSUs and large graphics cards.

As you'd expect given the plethora of colors and accessories available for the original A3-mATX, the new B4-mATX offers a range of options from the start, but also some optional additional accessories to bolster its credentials in vertical mode too. More on that later. Perhaps more importantly, the B4-mATX starts at just $70, so if the high cost of hardware right now sees you feeling more of a fun, sideways move rather than expensive upgrade, then keep reading.
