It's fair to say that the impressive looks and features of the upper echelons of the ASUS ROG Strix range of motherboards feel like fully-fledged ROG motherboards these days. While it's not in the ROG Crosshair range, the ROG Strix X870E-E Gaming Wi-Fi7 Neo has some real heft to it, with massive VRM and M.2 heatsinks and a PCB bristling with features with one or two of them unique to ASUS too.
As you'd expect being a recent addition to the ASUS line-up, there are multiple PCIe Gen 5 M.2 and PCIe slots, a 512 Mbit (64 MB) BIOS, PCIe lane optimization, and greater emphasis on tool-free features. We can usually rely on ASUS to offer a solid all-round package including the EFI and fan control, cooling and overclocking tools too, and this board also offers a dazzling RGB lighting display.
The question is whether it's worth its price tag, which is considerably higher than many capable X870E boards. There are certainly one or two questionable feature choices that we'll get to later that might hurt its chances of finding its way into your shopping cart. However, with AMD confirming the lifespan of Socket AM5 till at least 2029, spending big now to get the latest features could reduce the chances of waking up in a few years and finding your motherboard lacking.
