Introduction

The Asustor Lockerstor 2 Gen2+ AS6702T v2 was initially unveiled at Computex 2025 and announced in November of 2025, but it took Asustor some time to get us a review sample. The base hardware is quite similar to that of the Nimbustor 4 Gen2 AS5404T, as both are based around an Intel Celeron N5105 SoC and 4 GB DDR4 2933 MHz memory. The AS6702T v2 is obviously only a dual bay NAS, but is also available with four or six drive bays. The only hardware upgrade as such, is that Asustor has gone with dual 5 Gbps ports here, vs. dual 2.5 Gbps for the AS5404T that we reviewed back in October 2025. On the other hand, the Lockerstor models feature a more professional housing, with hot swappable drive bays that incorporate locks, and drive activity LEDs in the drive caddies. The overall build quality also feels a bit sturdier, which it also part of why the AS6702T v2 has a higher price tag.

On the software side of things, there are no major changes, although there have been a few minor updates that address various vulnerabilities and bugs. No major new features have been added since we looked at the Drivestor 2 Gen2 AS1202T. As such, we'll move on to the review without further ado.
