For all-round specifications and design prowess, Gigabyte's X3D Ice motherboards are some of the most attractive options for AMD Ryzen owners, and thankfully they span a wide range of price points too. This time, we're looking at the flagship of the range, the X870E Aorus Master X3D Ice, which dials things up in several areas compared to the X870E Aorus Pro X3D Ice we looked at late last year.
There's a substantial price difference between the two, though, and with both boards offering the benefits of the X870E chipset, the pressure is on the board we're looking at today to justify its premium when the cheaper option offers many of the same features we loved so much. Power delivery is much the same, and we still have a 512 Mbit (64 MB) BIOS, Wi-Fi 7, PCIe Gen 5 M.2 and PCIe slots along with 65 W power delivery over its front panel Type-C header.
If, however, you also value 10 Gbps Ethernet, elaborate RGB lighting, dual PCIe Gen 5 x16 slots and more USB bandwidth, then the X870E Aorus Master X3D Ice may be a better choice. As well as features and design, though, the cheaper option also performed well, so its more expensive sibling also needs to match or better it in our performance tests. Let's see how it does.
