If Intel's refreshed Arrow Lake CPUs have caught your eye, and you're looking for an affordable motherboard to house one, then you have plenty of options. Best of all is that many have received price cuts since their release, and it's not hard to find examples such as the ASRock Phantom Gaming Z890 Lightning Wi-Fi leaving you with plenty of change from $200.
ASRock has fared well at the low-end too, often recording decent VRM temperatures and cooling SSDs successfully where more expensive boards have failed. They've also offered solid specifications where others have skimped on audio, Wi-Fi or connectivity. Great examples are the ASRock Phantom Gaming Z890 Riptide Wi-Fi and the tiny ASRock Phantom Gaming B860I Lightning Wi-Fi, both of which picked up awards.
Of course, the competition has cut prices too, not just because of the disappointing launch of Arrow Lake, but also because the refresh CPUs such as the Core Ultra 7 270K Plus are the last to land on LGA1851. The question is whether the Phantom Gaming Z890 Lightning Wi-Fi is a steal at just $180, or if there are better options for a decent Z890 motherboard.
