It's rare to see enthusiast motherboards outside the usual four main manufacturers, and even rarer to see something high end like the motherboard we're looking at today. The specifications of Colorful's iGame X870E Vulcan OC V14 are impressive, and this isn't just a high-end motherboard either. It's one that claims to be designed with overclocking in mind and even has a pair of DIMM slots like other memory tweaking-focussed competing boards do.
It looks the part and certainly has features worthy of competing at the top as well. There are 18 vCore power phases rated at 110 A, three PCIe Gen 5 M.2 ports, 60 W Type-C front panel power delivery, massive VRM heatsinks, a backplate, an LCD, dual BIOS support and a host of overclocking tools on the PCB. It also seems to feature more advanced EFI and software packages than previous Colorful boards we've seen recently too.
The guide price Colorful has provided sits around the US$700 mark, which does put it in direct competition with the likes of the ASUS ROG Crosshair X870E Apex, so the iGame X870E Vulcan OC V14 has some serious work to do to impress as far as toppling the ROG dual DIMM slot board is concerned. Still, this is likely as much a party-crasher with Colorful announcing its intentions to become a big player in the motherboard market as it is anything else, and these types of boards are never about value anyway. Let's see what it can do.
