Starting with the Toolbox App 3.6 Early Access Program (EAP), SSH connections to remote environments use the JetBrains Daemon (jetbrainsd) by default.
We’re making this change available in the EAP first because jetbrainsd is becoming the shared background service for JetBrains tools. Moving SSH there helps us validate the new connection flow before using it more broadly in stable releases. The idea is to make remote development flows more reliable and less dependent on Toolbox-App-specific implementation.
Try the EAP build and see whether the SSH works for you. If it malfunctions, behaves unexpectedly, or is blocked by your company’s security tools, please file a report in YouTrack. Make sure to attach your Toolbox App logs (click About | Collect logs and diagnostics data) because they help us pinpoint what’s causing the failure – daemon startup, corporate security policy, authentication, the SSH connection itself, or something else.
After reporting an issue, try one of these temporary workarounds:
Enable jetbrainsd SSH client. The Enable jetbrainsd SSH client option is temporary. It is available during the EAP so we can collect feedback and maintain a quick fallback while the new flow is being validated.
Thanks for your help!
