Rathje Named SAGE Emerging Scholar

Steve Rathje, an assistant professor in Carnegie Mellon University's Human-Computer Interaction Institute, has received a 2026 SAGE Emerging Scholar Award from the Society for Personality and Social Psychology.

Portrait of Steven Rathje.The award recognizes early career researchers in personality and social psychology for their achievements in research, teaching or service.

Rathje is one of nine researchers to receive this year's award.

Rathje studies how digital technologies such as social media and artificial intelligence influence people and society. His research examines how these technologies affect political polarization, intergroup conflict, mental health and well-being, and how AI can be used to better understand human behavior.
