Work assignments

Research focus: implementation of an evidence-based digital support programme delivered through 1177 for informal caregivers of people with heart failure, combined with user-centred development of digital support.

You will work in an interdisciplinary research project combining implementation science, digital health and support for informal caregivers of people with heart failure. The project includes implementation of an evidence-based digital support programme through the 1177 Support and Treatment platform in six Swedish regions. The work is conducted in close collaboration with informal caregivers, healthcare professionals, regional administrations, patient organisations, designers and technical experts.

As a postdoctoral researcher, you will principally carry out research.

  • Plan, coordinate and evaluate implementation of the support programme in participating regions.
  • Recruit participants and conduct individual interviews, focus groups, workshops and survey-based data collection with informal caregivers, healthcare professionals and other stakeholders, register and retrieve data from REDCap.
  • Analyse qualitative data using, for example, reflexive thematic analysis or qualitative content analysis, and contribute to analyses of quantitative and 1177 usage data.
  • Apply the PRISM and RE-AIM frameworks to study reach, adoption, implementation, effectiveness and maintenance.
  • Contribute to an implementation strategy for national scale-up of digital caregiver support.
  • Participate in co-design and evaluation of the programme’s language, structure, content, accessibility and digital formats.
  • Collaborate with research partners, clinical services, regional stakeholders and other partners, and contribute to training and communication activities.
  • Prepare scientific manuscripts, present findings at conferences and disseminate results to healthcare services and wider society.

As postdoc, you will principally carry out research. A certain amount of teaching may be part of your duties, up to a maximum of 20% of working hours.

Qualifications

To be qualified for employment as a postdoctoral researcher, you must have been awarded a doctoral degree or have a foreign degree deemed equivalent to a doctoral degree. The degree must have been awarded no later than the date on which Linköping University makes its employment decision.

It is considered advantageous if your doctoral degree was awarded no more than three years before the application deadline. Special circumstances, such as statutory leave, may be taken into consideration.

We are looking for a candidate with a doctoral degree in nursing, health sciences, medical science, public health, social work, implementation science or another field relevant to the project.

The position requires:

  • Documented experience of qualitative data collection and analysis.
  • Ability to independently plan, conduct, analyse and report research.
  • Experience of scientific writing, demonstrated through publications in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Excellent spoken and written Swedish and English, as data collection and collaboration take place in Swedish healthcare settings, while scientific reporting is mainly in English.
  • Strong collaborative skills and the ability to work systematically with several stakeholders and parallel activities.

The following experience is particularly advantageous:

  • Implementation research and use of established frameworks, particularly PRISM and/or RE-AIM.
  • Digital health, eHealth or internet-based support and treatment programmes in healthcare.
  • Co-design, participatory research, service design or user-centred development.
  • Research on informal caregiving, heart failure, long-term conditions, self-care or person-centred care.
  • Survey data, registry or usage data, and statistical analysis.
  • Multicentre research or collaboration with regions, clinical services, public authorities or patient organisations.
  • Research ethics, data protection or responsible use of AI in healthcare.

You are as a person independent, proactive and analytical, and enjoy working in an interdisciplinary and collaborative project. The role requires ability to build trusting relationships with informal caregivers, healthcare professionals and other stakeholders, communicate research to different audiences, and take tasks from planning through to completed scientific publication. Particular emphasis will be placed on personal qualities and suitability for the position.

The workplace

You will work at the Division of Nursing, Department of Health, Medicine and Caring Sciences at Linköping University. The research environment conducts clinically relevant and interdisciplinary research in areas including heart failure, self-care, caregiver support, digital health, complex interventions and implementation. The project involves close collaboration with healthcare services in several regions, actors connected to 1177, patient organizations, and researchers in medicine, nursing, behavioral science, sociology, design and technology.

The employment

This is a full-time, fixed-term employment for two years, with the possibility of extension up to a total maximum of three years.

Starting date by agreement.
