Our fundamental values rest on credibility, trust and security. By having the courage to think freely and innovate, our actions together, large and small, contribute to a better world. We look forward to receiving your application!

Work assignments

The research will mainly be based on ABIS (All Babies in Southeast Sweden; (www.abis-studien.se), a birth cohort of 17 000 individuals born Oct 1st 1997-Oct 1st 1999, who have been followed with regular questionnaires and biological samples (a new follow-up is ongoing). Several national registers are connected such as the Swedish National Diagnosis register, the Drug prescription register.

ABIS is founded by and still leads by Johnny Ludvigsson, Senior Professor of Pediatrics, head of the research group. The ABIS study has so far resulted in >150 scientific publications, and 15 PhD Thesis based on ABIS. The main areas have so far been studies on the development of Type 1 diabetes, but also studies on celiac disease, JIA, IBD, autism, obesity, allergy and recently also psoriasis.

The selected scholar will be involved in biostatistical/epidemiological research on the etiology of Type 1 diabetes and other immune-mediated diseases. Epigenetic studies will be continued, and also studies on protein and metabolomic patterns in relation to epigenetic patterns and pancreatic beta cell function.

Beside ABIS, the scholar will also be able to get involved in the EU-project INITIALISE, with the objective of elucidating how exposures and genome impact gut microbiome, host immune system and metabolism, and how the interplay of these factors impact life-course health, especially immune-mediated diseases, behavioural outcomes and metabolic outcomes.

We also think you have experience of writing scientific papers; A strong publication record is meriting, and it is a merit if you have knowledge about ABIS and in best case have worked with development of type 1 diabetes and other autoimmune diseases.

You are expected to work well in a group of postdocs and also participate in practical handling of biological samples, collaborate with others in managing the ABIS biobank and registries, deliver samples and data to other research groups.
