The candidate will join a newly established Pharmacogenomics research group within the Department of Biomedical and Clinical Sciences at Linköping University. The projects involve the identification of pharmacogenomic biomarkers from biobanks and clinical genotyping/sequencing data, and the development of machine learning methods to interpret the functional consequences of pharmacogenetic variants.
As postdoc, you will principally carry out research. A certain amount of teaching may be part of your duties, up to a maximum of 20% of working hours.
To be qualified to take employment as postdoc, you must have been awarded a doctoral degree or have a foreign degree that is deemed to be equivalent to a doctoral degree. This degree must have been awarded at the latest by the point at which LiU makes its decision to employ you.
It is considered advantageous if your doctoral degree is no older than three years at application deadline for this job. If there are special reasons for having an older doctoral degree – such as taking statutory leave – then these may be taken into consideration.
We are looking for a candidate with a PhD in Pharmacology and/or Bioinformatics and with extensive experience in pharmacogenomics, machine learning-based prediction methods, genetic association analyses, and bioinformatics.
Prior experience in population pharmacogenomics, functional interpretation of pharmacogenetic variants, and analysis of sequencing data (e.g., variant and star-allele calling, rare-variant analysis), as well as experience with large-scale biobank data (e.g., UK Biobank), structural bioinformatics (e.g., 3D protein structure-based functional interpretation), and machine learning approaches for pharmacogenomic research, is highly valued. A strong publication record in relevant scientific journals is considered a merit.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English are essential. Swedish language proficiency is not required for this position. We highly value a strong work ethic, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
