The purpose of the employment is that the assistant professor is to be given the opportunity to develop independence as a researcher and to obtain both the research and teaching qualifications required for employment as associate professor.
The Division of Cybersecurity (CYBER) at the Department of Computer Science conducts research as well as undergraduate and doctoral education within cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, network technology, communication systems, and dependability. Within the research, special investments are made at the interface between cybersecurity and AI, as well as within security for critical infrastructure. As Assistant professor in Computer Science with a specialisation in Cybersecurity, you teach at the undergraduate and advanced levels, in both Swedish and English, and supervise students within the department's subjects. The work includes course development, course responsibility, and participation in educational administrative tasks linked to the cybersecurity field.
You conduct research within cybersecurity, with particular focus on, for example, security in critical infrastructure, AI-related security issues, or adjacent areas of relevance to the division's research profile. The research is conducted mainly in English.
You are active in the research community, participate in the division's activities such as seminars and workshops, participate in research projects, communicate results through scientific publications and help attract external research funding.
You contribute actively to the university's development work. Collaboration is an integrated part of the university's research and education mission. Collaboration within education takes place by planning, organizing, and delivering high-quality education in interaction with actors from the surrounding society. Collaboration within research takes place by disseminating, making available, and applying research for societal benefit.
The position may also involve administrative assignments, such as for example director of studies or work with education boards. We also encourage you to participate in and show interest in management duties.
Your work includes monitoring developments nationally and internationally within your field of study and other societal developments that are important to your work.
You are flexible and have the ability to move between different types of pedagogical and scientific contexts. You share knowledge and contribute to the working group’s professional development, collegial ways of working and social community. We are looking for candidates who have a doctoral degree or equivalent scientific competence. We are primarily looking for candidates who have obtained their doctoral degree in the past seven years.
For this employment particular attention will be paid to academic expertise, second to pedagogical expertise, and third to other proficiencies which are judged to be equivalent to each other.

Where teaching or research is conducted in Swedish and English, then you must be able to demonstrate the ability to teach and conduct research in English and it is desirable that within two years you can teach and conduct research in Swedish.
The Department of Computer and Information Science was founded in 1983 but its roots go back to the early 1970s. It is one of the largest computer science departments in northern Europe. Our research covers a broad spectrum of fields, from core to applied computer sciences. Its vast scope also benefits our undergraduate and graduate programmes, and we now teach courses in several engineering programmes at bachelor’s and master’s levels, as well as the programmes in statistics, cognitive science and innovative programming.

The length of employment for this position is 5 years, full time.
An assistant professor may be employed until further notice, for a minimum period of four years and a maximum period of six years, as determined by the institution of higher education before the employment begins. The employment may be renewed, by a maximum period of two years, if, as a consequence of sick absence, parental leave, or other special circumstances of the assistant professor, additional time is necessary in order to achieve the purpose of the employment.
An assistant professor shall, after application, be promoted to associate professor if he/she is qualified for employment as associate professor and has been assessed following a test to be suitable for such employment according to the grounds for assessment that the University has determined.
