Irvine, Calif. – JAMS, the premier provider of alternative dispute resolution (ADR) services worldwide, is pleased to announce that Stacy La Scala, Esq., has received the Jerrold S. Oliver Award of Excellence at this year’s West Coast Casualty Construction Defect Seminar. The award was presented on May 14 at the Disneyland Resort Hotel in Anaheim.

The Jerrold S. Oliver Award of Excellence, affectionately known as the “Ollie Award,” is a distinguished honor recognizing individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the construction defect and ADR communities. The award is widely respected among mediators, arbitrators, insurers and construction litigators for honoring leadership, professionalism and commitment to effective dispute resolution.

Named in honor of the late Hon. Jerrold S. Oliver, a former JAMS neutral and pioneer in the use of ADR for resolving construction claims, the award celebrates individuals who reflect Judge Oliver’s legacy of preparation, civility and service to the construction defect community.

“This award recognizes individuals who exemplify civility, leadership and commitment to effective dispute resolution, and Mr. La Scala embodies those qualities in every aspect of his work. We are proud to see his long-standing contributions to the ADR and construction communities recognized with this distinguished honor.”

Kimberly Taylor, JAMS CEO and president

Mr. La Scala is a JAMS mediator with decades of experience resolving complex construction, insurance, business/commercial and professional liability disputes. His practice includes a broad range of commercial, industrial, public works and residential construction matters, drawing on an extensive background handling complex, multiparty litigation involving construction defect, insurance coverage, contract and commercial disputes. Prior to becoming a neutral, Mr. La Scala served as a regional director and national litigation director for a large national property casualty insurer.

Known for his dedicated and creative approach to dispute resolution, Mr. La Scala is skilled at guiding parties through highly emotional and complex disputes toward resolution. In addition to his mediation practice, he is co-author of Thomson Reuters’ California Civil Practice: Torts and serves as an appellate neutral for the Pacific Gas & Electric Fire Victims Trust and as an arbitrator for the Horseracing Integrity and Welfare Unit, which oversees nationwide anti-doping regulations for Thoroughbred horse racing.
