JAMS ADR · 2026-05-16 · via JAMS ADR

Los Angeles JAMS, the premier provider of alternative dispute resolution (ADR) services worldwide, is pleased to announce that Hon. David S. Cunningham lll (Ret.) has joined its panel. He brings over four decades of legal and judicial experience.

Judge Cunningham served on the Los Angeles County Superior Court from 2009 to 2026. He has presided over a wide array of cases spanning family law, probate and complex civil litigation, including mass torts and class actions. His impressive career is marked by a focus on equity, constitutional rights, procedural fairness, business-related litigation and case management, including his role as supervising judge of the Los Angeles Superior Court’s Complex Litigation Program.

Based in the Los Angeles Resolution Center, Judge Cunningham will serve as an arbitrator, mediator and neutral evaluator, handling business and commercial, cybersecurity and privacy, employment law, environmental law, family law, insurance, mass torts and personal injury matters. He is available to conduct sessions in person, as well as virtually, for clients across the country and internationally.

“Judge Cunningham brings a deep understanding of complex case management shaped by decades on the bench, in addition to years in private practice and public service. His lasting contributions to the Los Angeles community and beyond reflect the thoughtfulness and depth he brings to the JAMS panel.”

Kimberly Taylor, JAMS CEO and president.

Judge Cunningham began his legal career in the Honors Program at the U.S. Department of Justice, Civil Rights Division, where he worked on voting rights matters that contributed to the federal extension of the Voting Rights Act. He later clerked for the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California and practiced at major law firms. He has held prominent leadership roles, including serving as president of the Los Angeles Police Commission. He has also been active in legal education, serving as an adjunct faculty member and regular speaker on complex issues for judges and practitioners nationwide.

“As a neutral, I strive to provide parties an opportunity to make their arguments while maintaining efficiency and mutual respect, and to navigate complex legal and factual issues with impartiality and practical insight,” said Judge Cunningham.

Judge Cunningham earned his J.D. from the New York University School of Law and his B.A., summa cum laude, from the University of Southern California.
