As you’re likely well aware due to buying all four novels immediately upon finishing season 1, Off Campus is based on a book series. But some pretty major changes were made in the world of Briar University, and Elle Kennedy just revealed her favorites.

During a TikTok Q&A, the best-selling author reportedly said that she “loved loved loved Allie and Dean’s J.Lo/Maverick dance and them having this wild tension even before their hookup (in the book the hookup happens right off the bat).”

She also noted, “I love that Justin is a musician now; I think it makes a lot of sense.” (Reminder: In the book, he’s just another classmate of Hannah’s who happens to be her crush.)

Sadly, Justin won’t be in season 2 (which starts production in June), but there’s no drama. Showrunner Louisa Levy explained that actor Josh Heuston is simply booked and busy.

“Not next season, but I love Josh and I would not write him off if I can find a way to bring Justin back at some point,” Louisa told TV Guide. “We never got a chance to meet Stella, who is the person he ends up with in the book. So maybe we’ll find a way to fold him into a future season. We don’t have him [available] next season, but never say never.”
