Queuing up a spin-off/sequel series to The Handmaid’s Tale might not seem like the best comfort watch in 2026, but the rebellious new series on Hulu is oddly hopeful. If you’re intrigued and/or planning to watch The Testaments with your whole chest, here’s what you need to know to keep up with the show on Hulu.
The Testaments stars Chase Infiniti, Lucy Halliday, and Rowan Blanchard as the next generation of women growing up in the oppressive, dystopian, fundamentalist former United States known as Gilead. It takes place several years after the final season of The Handmaid’s Tale and is based on the novel that Margaret Atwood published in 2019.
Yes, Aunt Lydia (Ann Dowd) is here too, and yes the rebels are still rebelling. But the show is set primarily at a preparatory school for young wives where everything is pink and purple and practically perfect. Which is, if you know the truth about Gilead, creepy AF.
The spin-off premieres on April 8, 2026. Make sure you carve out a little extra time on Wednesday night, or over the weekend, if you’re planning to keep up with The Testaments. The first three episodes will drop on Hulu the first week. The episodes will drop episodes at 12:00 a.m. ET on the day of release, which means if you’re on PT you can actually watch them on the preceding Tuesday night at 9 p.m. starting on April 7 – fancy!
The first season will have ten episodes in total. After that initial three episode premiere, episodes will drop weekly on Wednesdays until the finale on May 27, 2026.
