Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are rumored to be getting married in exactly a week on July 3, but…it’s possible they’re already married. Deuxmoi points out that couples must “obtain a marriage license before a legal wedding ceremony can take place” and that Taylor and Travis could have already had a private celebration ahead of upcoming celebrations in New York City.
So…is there any evidence? On July 19, TMZ reported the couple hadn’t filed for a marriage license in Rhode Island, where Taylor owns a home, but they also pointed out that marriage records are “protected by state law and are not publicly accessible.” The outlet also notes that the couple could have made it legal in California, which offers entirely “confidential marriage licenses.”
Either way, it sounds like Taylor and Travis’s official celebration is almost definitely taking place in New York City. The New York Times spoke to three insiders who confirmed “a permit was filed with New York City to close the streets around Madison Square Garden from July 2 to midday July 4 for an event on July 3” and one person even revealed that “several members” of the Kansas City Chiefs have booked hotel rooms at the Marriott Marquis in Times Square.
Meanwhile, event company Winick Productions has reportedly filed an application to set up a tent that accommodates 500 to 999 guests outside MSG, and Amtrak police officers “have been told to expect a Swift wedding the weekend of July 4.”
In other words: it’s all happening!
