Apple Rumored To Raise Prices On Macs And iPads. Prepare ...
Paulo Montenegro · 2026-06-19 · via Ubergizmo

An industry report indicates that Apple is considering price increases across several of its hardware lineups in response to surging costs for memory and flash storage components. While multiple smartphone manufacturers have already raised retail prices to offset these rising component expenses, major industry leaders like Apple and Samsung have historically absorbed the financial impact. However, recent developments suggest that Apple may no longer maintain its current pricing structure.

Component Pressures and Impacted Products

According to a report by The Wall Street Journal, which features an interview with Apple CEO Tim Cook, the company is preparing to adjust retail pricing for select products in the near future. Although specific implementation timelines and exact product lists were not disclosed by leadership, industry analysis suggests that Apple’s Mac and iPad portfolios are positioned to receive price adjustments ahead of other devices.

Furthermore, the pricing updates are expected to extend into future product generations. The report notes that the upcoming iPhone 18 Pro lineup will likely debut at a higher price point compared to the current iPhone 17 Pro series, reflecting the sustained financial pressure from the semiconductor supply chain.

Broader Market Context

The volatility in the global memory market has driven up production costs for high-capacity devices. Both random-access memory (RAM) and NAND flash storage chips have experienced steady price growth, forcing consumer electronics brands to evaluate their profit margins. While smaller manufacturers reacted early by adjusting their retail pricing, larger companies with substantial ecosystem locks are now facing identical supply-chain realities.

For consumers, these impending adjustments highlight a broader trend of rising costs within the flagship electronics segment. While Apple has not formally detailed the exact price margins or specific global regions that will experience the initial hikes, the shift signals an end to the company’s period of absorbing escalated manufacturing costs internally.
