Indian billionaire Azim Premji’s Wipro to acquire Singapo...

Indian tech giant Wipro, founded by billionaire Azim Premji, will acquire Singapore-based Olam Group’s IT unit Mindsprint for US$375 million as the agri-food firm restructures to focus on its core commodities business.

Wipro will purchase Olam’s entire stake in Mindsprint in an all-cash deal and provide IT services to Olam Group under an eight-year contract valued at $800 million, according to Forbes.

The divestment is part of Olam’s broader strategy to streamline operations by gradually selling remaining assets and returning proceeds to shareholders through special dividends, the company said Monday.

Under the agreement, Wipro will deploy AI tools to upgrade Olam’s technology systems across its supply chain, spanning farming, manufacturing, and customer engagement.

Mindsprint will become a wholly owned subsidiary of Wipro upon completion of the transaction, which is expected by the end of June, according to The Straits Times.

It employs more than 3,200 people globally and serves clients across industries including food and agribusiness, manufacturing, retail, and healthcare. Its current leadership, including chief executive Suresh Sundararajan, will remain in place to ensure continuity.

The partnership aims to support Olam’s transformation across its "farm to fork" value chain, improving operational efficiency across production and supply chain processes.

Premji, with an estimated net worth of $8.5 billion according to Forbes, built Wipro from a family cooking oil business into one of India’s largest software services providers. The company reported over $10 billion in revenue for the year ended March 2025.
