Open source Sniperl.ink
Justin Duke · 2025-11-24 · via Buttondown's blog

Hey folks! We're excited to announce that Sniperl.ink is now open source.

If you're not familiar, Sniperl.ink is our free tool that helps improve email confirmation rates by detecting which email provider someone uses (Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo, and so on) and giving them a deep link that opens directly to their inbox search. We launched it back in 2023 after seeing a statistically significant 6% uplift in double opt-in rates when we tested it internally.

So today, we're opening up the entire Sniperl.ink codebase. You can find it on GitHub, where you can see how we detect email providers, how we generate those deep links, and how the web component works under the hood. Whether you want to run your own instance, contribute improvements, or just see how we built it, everything's there.

The API and web component at sniperl.ink will keep running exactly as it has been — nothing changes there. But now you have the option to self-host if you prefer, or fork it and customize it for your own needs.

This is part of our broader commitment to open source. We've always tried to open source whatever non-core IP we can, and Sniperl.ink felt like a perfect fit: it's useful, it's self-contained, and it's something we think the community can benefit from. We're excited to see what you build with it!
