Job Role: Strategic Technology Advisor

Reports to: Megan Kaye, Sales Team Leader

Salary: £40,000 – £45,000 OTE of £60,000 – £65,000 in the first year

Overview: Are you looking for growth and autonomy in your next career role? Situated within a tight-knit and together team, AAG IT Services are looking for an innovative Strategic Account Manager to join their Sales & Marketing Team.

The Strategic Technology Advisor (STA) is a business‑focused, client‑facing role accountable for helping clients make better business decisions enabled by technology.

The Strategic Technology Advisor (STA) is as a trusted advisor to a defined client set, bringing strong commercial awareness, deep listening skills, and the ability to ask the right questions to uncover what the client truly needs—often beyond what they initially articulate. This role is client‑centric, consultative, and autonomous, working directly with clients to understand their business objectives and translate those into clear, practical, and forward‑looking technology strategies. This role works closely with clients to understand their organisation, goals, pressures, and constraints, then guides them on how technology can support those goals across the short, medium, and long term.

While technology knowledge is required, the role is not deeply technical; its strength lies in commercial awareness, structured thinking, listening, questioning, and insight.

Roles and Responsibilities

Own the client’s technology‑enabled business strategy

  • Understand each client’s business model, objectives, challenges, and future plans.
  • Help clients align technology choices to business outcomes such as growth, efficiency, risk reduction, resilience, and cost control.
  • Focus on why and what should be done, not how it is technically delivered.

C‑Level Engagement & Strategic Consultancy

  • Demonstrate the ability to confidently engage with C‑level stakeholders, translating technical concepts into clear business‑focused outcomes.
  • Possess sufficient technical and commercial understanding to independently identify opportunities, without reliance on Technical Support.
  • Proactively recognise risks and inefficiencies within a client’s environment and articulate how technology can be used to mitigate risk and improve process efficiency.
  • Act as a trusted advisor, able to hold strategic conversations that link technology decisions to business objectives, operational performance, and commercial value.

Apply technology awareness (not technical delivery)

  • Maintain a strong understanding of modern workplace, infrastructure, security, and cloud concepts.
  • Use technology awareness to guide conversations and shape recommendations.
  • Rely on technical teams for detailed design, validation, and implementation.

Deep client understanding and advocacy

  • Build strong relationships with key stakeholders and decision‑makers.
  • Develop a deep understanding of how the client operates day‑to‑day and where friction exists.
  • Represent the client’s interests internally, ensuring recommendations and delivery reflect their business reality.

Autonomous ownership of client engagement

  • Manage a defined client portfolio with minimal supervision.
  • Proactively identify risks, misalignment, or opportunities before they become issues.
  • Take responsibility for the quality and usefulness of advice given to clients.

What Success Looks Like

  • Clients feel understood as a business, not just as an IT environment
  • Technology discussions are clear, prioritised, and outcome‑focused
  • Clients trust the TBC’s judgement and guidance
  • Advice given is practical, realistic, and aligned to client maturity
  • Strong collaboration with delivery teams, without stepping into technical ownership

Hours of work: Monday to Friday 9am – 5.30pm (occasionally overtime may be required to fulfill client requirements).

Role: Hybrid, Mondays are office days for the team, Tue-Fri optional WFH and/or working from Client Locations.

Benefits: Generous commission scheme. Without being that company, the AAG ‘family’ really are like a family. The Senior Leadership Team provide all employees with the tools and support they need to accelerate both personal and professional development. As well as delivering Quarterly Company Social Events, and flexible working.

Our culture and values are of upmost importance to every member of our team. From employee of the quarter and Westfield Health right through to the freebies (tea, coffee, parking – you name it!)

So, whether you’re like Mark, our Marketing Manager come kids football coach (at the weekend), or like Megan, a Pilates Hero by morning and our Sales Team Leader by day. Maybe, you’re more like a Sam Drew of the world, cracking tickets in his “9-5” before looking afer his garden by evening – whatever your passion, we’re looking forward to welcoming you into our vibrant team.
