IIT Palakkad Technology IHub Foundation (IPTIF) has signed MoU with the Buimerc India Foundation to launch Entrepreneurship Support Programme on Social Innovation. The programme, aimed at nurturing social entrepreneurs in Kerala and extending its impact across the country, will be rolled out for applications shortly.
The MoU was signed by A. Seshadri Sekhar, Director of IIT Palakkad and Chairman - IPTIF, and R. Balachandran, Chairman of Buimerc India Foundation. The collaboration marks the beginning of a long-term association to strengthen the technology innovation ecosystem in the State, with a special focus on their social impact, said a press release.
The newly-designed programme DISHA (Driving Innovative Solutions for Humanitarian Advancement) is to support start-ups and innovators working on socially-impactful technology solutions in critical areas such as healthcare, rural development, sustainability and digital inclusion. The programme will provide technical and business mentorship and seed funding to entrepreneurs through DISHA Entrepreneur-in-Residence (EiR) fellowships, where 10 selected fellows will receive mentoring, prototyping support and access to IIT Palakkad’s cutting-edge prototyping and testing facilities.
IPTIF is a section 8, not-for-profit company of IIT Palakkad, supported by the Department of Science and Technology.
