Hi Tech Buzzer,

Plenty of companies can draw a flying car, but AirCar has been busy putting theirs in the air.

The Flying Car With Real-World Flight Experience

In an industry filled with ambitious concepts and digital renderings, one question matters: Who has actually flown?

After eight years of research and development, AirCar has built and flown 10 full-scale prototypes and logged more than 1,000 manned test flights. Those flights have allowed the company to validate its aircraft, propulsion systems, flight controls, and manufacturing approach through repeated real-world testing.

AirCar is also not betting everything on a single aircraft. Its two-seat LightSport, single-seat UltraLight, and AirDrone 100 cargo drone—capable of carrying up to 250 lb.—have all completed successful flights. Together, they demonstrate flight-proven development across personal aviation, recreational flight, and cargo transportation.

Customer demand is already taking shape. AirCar secured 100 reservations during its first week of pre-orders and now has more than 260 deposit-backed reservations, representing approximately $25 million in potential product revenue.

While much of the eVTOL industry is pursuing expensive commercial air-taxi fleets, AirCar is building for personal ownership. Its two-seat LightSport is priced at $99,000—approximately one-quarter of EHang’s publicly announced $410,000 retail price—giving AirCar a compelling position in the emerging personal-aircraft market.

That affordability is supported by AirCar’s vertically integrated manufacturing strategy. By developing and manufacturing key systems in-house—including carbon-fiber airframe structures and proprietary 400V electric motors—AirCar gains greater control over cost, quality, production timelines, and future margins. At scaled production, the company is targeting 45% gross margins.

Now, AirCar is opening its first U.S. showroom and operating base in the San Francisco Bay Area while advancing its FAA certification program under the MOSAIC framework.
