In large and complex cloud infrastructure, many companies lose control and visibility over what is happening in their own environments. Because of the dynamic nature of cloud coupled with decentralized management, it’s common to see costs spin out of control, assets that are extremely over- or underutilized, and governance that is virtually nonexistent. This is why the organizations who are leading the charge in cloud computing are looking for ways to manage their cloud by bringing together granular performance data, end-to-end visibility, and powerful analytics across their cloud environment.

Which brings me to why I am so excited about today’s announcement—we are now offering integration between Datadog and CloudHealth, a leader in cloud service management. Together, Datadog and CloudHealth bring you end-to-end visibility across every dimension of your cloud environment and actionable insights so you can make the best decisions when it comes to provisioning and rightsizing in the cloud. The CloudHealth-Datadog partnership provides customers with the following benefits:

Rightsizing analysis

Using Datadog and CloudHealth together, you’ll be armed with the information you need to reduce cloud costs and optimize services. The Datadog Agent collects granular data about the CPU, disk, and memory usage of any specific asset. CloudHealth uses this data in a Rightsizing analysis that incorporates CPU, memory, and network scores. The end result is a specific recommendation around downsizing or upgrading Instances, including the suggested Instance type—saving you time and money. You can even take action on the Instance from within the CloudHealth console, to start, stop, delete, reboot, or run a Lambda function.

Visualization of key assets

Using CloudHealth, you can zero-in on the cloud data you care about—looking by department, line of business, or any relevant Perspective. You can also use Datadog tags to get a centralized view of all your assets in one place alongside other tools and services. You can also run your rightsizing analysis grouped by function, so you can quickly find which departments or teams need to adjust their behavior when provisioning new infrastructure.

Advanced performance metrics per asset

You can easily maneuver between the tools to really understand your environment. Jump into CloudHealth to track trends or scan through performance data or switch over to the Datadog console to explore individual assets in more detail. Within each instance, you can drill down into performance and see a detailed view of network performance in a multi-chart visualization.
