Oceania Cruises has announced that Oceania Aurelia will set sail in late 2027. The new launch offers a total reimagination of the beloved ship once-named Oceania Nautica, one of the cruise line’s four small R-class vessels (which included Regatta, Insignia, and Sirena).
The vessel, part of the Oceania fleet since 2005, is being totally redesigned and rebuilt to appeal to travelers interested in longer, immersive, global itineraries on a small ship with an intimate, residential feel.
“She is designed specifically for guests who desire greater space, more suites and a deeper level of personalized care, particularly for extended journeys,” said Jason Montague, Chief Luxury Officer of Oceania Cruises, in a press release announcing the launch.
“Oceania Aurelia will be a smaller, more club-like ship that truly feels like a home at sea, providing travelers a deeper connection to the ports they visit,” he said.
Although 2026 itineraries have not yet been revealed, the line announced that Oceania Aurelia will embark on two 180-day Around the World journeys in 2028 and 2029, exploring destinations over six continents.

The demographic who can take long cruises was once almost entirely composed of retirees. But now, these long voyages also appeal to the increasing number of individuals who can work remotely.
Oceania Aurelia is slated to have fewer than 500 guests and 400 officers and crew, a ratio that handily ensures attentive, personalized service. The ship previously held 670 passengers and was considered right-sized for navigating small ports, but large enough to have elegant public spaces and amenities. The reduced number of passengers will also make it easier for guests to connect with their neighbors, other like-minded travelers.
The ship’s 238 accommodations will include 179 spacious suites with dedicated butler service, ranging in size from 330 to 1,000 square feet. The staterooms will be appointed with furnishings and decor that feels residential, some with gracious living and dining areas.
The suite collection will include Owner’s, Vista and Penthouse suites as well as two new categories: Oceania and Horizon suites.
For most of us, the quality of cuisine is an important consideration in choosing a cruise line. But it becomes even more important on a lengthy cruise.
Oceania Cruises has garnered a reputation as “the line” for food enthusiasts. Its popular onboard dining venues include The Grand Dining Room, Polo Grill, Toscana, Terrace Cafe, Waves Grill, the Pizzeria, and the authentic Italian coffee bar, Baristas. The new ship will also be adding the Bakery (serving pastries and other baked European specialties) and a Creperie, with fresh crepes, waffles and gelato sundaes.
In addition, the line is known for its floating culinary arts kitchens and destination-focused culinary enrichment programs, both of which were created by Chef Kathryn Kelly. The new ship promises a Chef’s Studio and a Founders Bar offering mixology experiences.

No booking dates for Oceania Aurelia have been announced yet. But for those who can’t wait, this certainly isn’t Oceania Cruises’ only foray into extended cruise itineraries.
The luxury adult-only line also offers Grand Voyages and other Around the World Cruises with overnight port stays that allow deeper dives into destinations, their people and culture.
