Few yacht designers in the world have the palmarès of Germán Frers. And his 40-year-long design relationship with Nautor Swan is legendary. So, I’m not surprised to see his signature look on the new Swan 73 combines timeless aesthetics, advanced performance and reflects Swan’s product development strategy of remaining true to the brand’s elegant identity by following a path of evolution rather than disruption.

“From the earliest sketches, the intention with Luca Ardizio was to create exterior lines that reflect the purity of Germán Frers’ hulls, combining elegance and fluidity with a refined balance of form, proportion, and performance,” says Antonio Santella, New Product Development Senior Advisor.

I love the layout allows smooth operation even with reduced crew, while twin helms provide full visibility and precise control in all conditions and the large deck area that’s divided into four distinct living areas. The foredeck offers a private sunbathing lounge, optionally shaded by an elegant Arabian-style tent, with the possibility of accommodating a large tender.

At the heart of the concept lies the guest cockpit—an inviting, sheltered space that seamlessly connects interior and exterior living. A unique feature within the Swan range is the optional rigid roof, transforming the area into a panoramic veranda or, when required, a fully enclosed and climate-controlled environment: a refined nautical ‘winter garden’, perfectly integrated into the yacht’s timeless profile.

Further aft, the sailing cockpit is dedicated to performance, with twin helms, winches, and control systems carefully arranged for effortless short-handed sailing. At the stern, the beach club area features a swimming platform, extendable on request, and a spacious lazarette capable of accommodating a nearly 10-foot-long RIB and additional equipment.

The interior layout is versatile, with an aft galley and crew area to port, and configurations available in three or four guest cabins. Forward, flexible arrangements allow for either an expanded owner’s bathroom or a walk-in wardrobe, ensuring privacy, comfort, and acoustic separation from technical spaces.
