Apple is selling Mac Mini M4 computers as fast as it can make them. The Mini M4 offers value for money and is one of the most cost-effective ways to get on board with macOS. For such an affordable computer, the Mac Mini M4 offers three Thunderbolt 4 ports, one HDMI connector, an Ethernet port, two USB-C ports and a headphone jack on the front, but if you’re looking for USB-A, you’re out of luck.
Fortunately, some computer accessory brands now sell docking stations to expand the Mac Mini M4’s connectivity options. One of the latest devices on the market is the Ugreen Mac mini M4 Dock and Stand with NVMe SSD enclosure. This is an 11-in-1 expansion hub that sits neatly underneath the Mac Mini M4 and has some handy features.
For starters, everyone knows that Apple’s storage prices are high. If you want to up the size of the Mac Mini M4’s base 512GB SSD, you’re going to have to pay for it. But there is another way.
At the front of the Mac mini M4 Dock and Stand with NVMe SSD enclosure are two USB-A ports and a couple of memory card slots. The Mac Mini M4 already has two forward facing USB-C ports and a headphone output.

The Ugreen Mac mini M4 Dock and Stand with NVMe SSD Enclosure is designed specifically for Mac Mini users who want more storage, as well as more USB Ports for a less-cluttered desktop that doesn’t compromise on the appearance of Apple’s hardware.
Built specifically for the Mac Mini M4 and M4 Pro, the docking station integrates directly with the computer’s design while enabling the user to add up to 8TB of expandable M.2 NVMe SSD storage in multiple form factors. The docking station plugs into one of the Mac Mini M4’s USB-C ports and provides transfer speeds up to 10Gbps. Not as fast a Thunderbolt, but enough for most people’s needs.
At the rear of the docking station are two USB-A ports with 5Gbps speeds and another USB-A port with 10Gbps speeds. Then there are two more USB-C Type C ports with speeds of 10Gbps. That’s a lot of expansion. There’s also a 5V USB-C input, should the docking station need more power for charging any attached devices. That said, the docking station can also be bus-powered by the host Mac Mini M4.
At the back of the Mac mini M4 Dock and Stand with NVMe SSD enclosure are three USB-A ports and two USB-C ports plus one more USB-C power input for a 5V power supply. The dock connects by one short USB-C cable.

On the front of the docking station are two 10Gbps USB-A ports plus slots for UHS-I SD/TF memory cards, handy for importing photos and videos. Now, bear in mind that the docking station shares its 10Gbps bandwidth between all those ports, so don’t expect to get full speeds out of them if they are all being used.
In the base of the docking station is the bay for an M.2 SSD to fit all the available formats from the compact M.2 2230 to a 2280 SSD. The SSD shares the docking station’s overall 10Gbps bandwidth budget.
It would be great to see this docking station with a Thunderbolt 4 interface, like the Satechi CubeDock Thunderbolt 4 docking station, but that would mean a much higher price and not everyone needs high speeds since the Mac Mini M4 already has three Thunderbolt 4 ports and the Mac Mini M4 Pro comes with Thunderbolt 5 ports, which provide up to 80Gbps of bi-directional bandwidth.

Another handy feature on this docking station is a power lever at the back, which lets users turn their Mac Mini M4 on. When Apple designed its baby desktop, for some reason, it decided to put the power switch on the base, so users must lift the Mac up to turn it on. With the Ugreen docking station, it’s not necessary. It’s the small details that make a difference in life.
Finally, Ugreen’s docking station matches the finish of Apple’s baby desktop and it includes anti-slip silicone feet to stop the dock and the Mac Mini M4 from sliding around on the desk.
