Each day’s game of NYT Connections goes live at midnight local time. Before today’s NYT Connections hints, here’s what you missed on Sunday:

ForbesNYT Connections Hints Today: Sunday, April 12 Clues And Answers (#1036)

Hey there, Connectors! I hope you had a great weekend. I’m very glad to be back with you for another weekday run of this column, which I deeply love putting together for you fine folks.

There’s a thing I like to do here on Mondays, which is to help get your week started on a positive note with a fun, upbeat song. If I can help lift your mood – and maybe even get you singing and dancing a little – that would just make my day.

It doesn’t look like I’ve used this song before (neither as a Monday opener or as one of my daily recommendations). That seems absurd, since it’s ideal for this spot. So, please do bop your head and enjoy “You Make My Dreams” by Hall and Oates. What a fantastic song. I really needed it myself right now. Listening to it made me a bit happier, and I hope it does the same for you:

Before we start, I want to highlight the rad community we have on Discord, where we chat about Connections, the rest of the NYT games and all kinds of other stuff. It’s a lovely group of folks. You’re more than welcome to join us.

Also, my weekend editions of this column are available over on my newsletter, Pastimes. If you enjoy the intros and recommendations in my Connections columns, I publish longer pieces along similar lines on Pastimes as well. I think you’d dig them.

Today’s NYT Connections hints and answers for Monday, April 13 are coming right up. Let’s get rolling!

NYT Connections Hints – One Answer Per Group

Need some extra help?

Be warned: we’re starting to get into spoiler territory.

Let’s take a look at one answer for each group.

Here we go…

  • 🟨 Yellow group — VELVET ROPE
  • 🟩 Green group — MAGIC WAND
  • 🟦 Blue group — SOPRANO
  • 🟪 Purple group — PEN

NYT Connections Hints – Groups/Categories

Today’s Connections groups are...

  • 🟨 Yellow group — seen outside a theater
  • 🟩 Green group — accessories for a magician
  • 🟦 Blue group — TV show title surnames
  • 🟪 Purple group — they have caps

NYT Connections Answers

Spoiler alert! Don’t scroll any further down the page until you’re ready to find out today’s Connections answers.

This is your last chance to look away.

This is your final warning!

Today’s Connections answers are...

  • 🟨 Yellow group — seen outside a theater (BOX OFFICE, MARQUEE, TICKET LINE, VELVET ROPE)
  • 🟩 Green group — accessories for a magician (CAPE, HANDKERCHIEF, MAGIC WAND, RABBIT)
  • 🟦 Blue group — TV show title surnames (HOUSE, LASSO, MONTANA, SOPRANO)
  • 🟪 Purple group — they have caps (BASEBALL PLAYER, CAMERA LENS, MUSHROOM, PEN)

I got the theater words right away. No problem at all there. I think LASSO, MAGIC WAND, PEN and CAMERA LENS are all things you can see in Adobe Photoshop (I'm not 100% sure about CAMERA LENS, though). I'm pretty sure we've had a group like that in the past too, but given that I believe we've had a few repeats lately, I made a guess with those words. No dice.

That meant MAGIC WAND had to go with all the magician accessories to lock in the greens. LASSO and SOPRANO made me think of Ted Lasso and The Sopranos. HOUSE made sense with those, as did MONTANA (I was thinking of Joe Montana at first, but it had to be Hannah Montana).

That left the purples. I didn't get that category before submitting it.

Slightly tougher one than we've had lately, I thought. I enjoyed it, though. That's win 408 in a row in the books for me.

How did you get on today? Here's my grid:

ForbesNYT Connections Answers Explained For Monday, April 13 (#1,037)By Kris Holt

That’s all there is to it for today’s Connections clues and answers. Be sure to check my blog tomorrow for hints and the solution for Tuesday’s game if you need them.

P.S. Okay, we’ve had the feel-good pop song. Now here’s one to bring some head-banging energy to your Monday. The Warning are a trio of twenty-something sisters from Monterrey, Mexico, and they’re absolutely rad. Recent single “Kerosene” is a high-octane, hard rock track, and I think it’s just swell:

Have a great day! Stay hydrated! Be kind to yourself and each other! Call someone you love!

Please follow my blog for more NYT Connections hints and help with other word games, and even some video game news, insights and analysis. It helps me out a lot! Sharing this column with other people who play Connections would be appreciated too. You can also read my weekend editions of this column at my newsletter, Pastimes.
