The second season of HBO’s hit real-time medical drama, The Pitt, is rushing toward its Season 2 finale and while it’s not nearly as high-stakes as the first season, we still have a lot of loose threads to tie up.

While I’ve had some gripes with some of the subplots this season, and some of the weird character choices, overall it’s been another great watch. Hopefully showrunner R. Scott Gemmill and the writers have something satisfying in store for the finale. I think we’re all a bit worried about Dr. Robby (Noah Wyle).

Read on to find out everything you need to know about The Pitt’s big Season 2 finale and watch the teaser trailer below.

What Time Does ‘The Pitt’ Season 2, Episode 15 Release on HBO Max?

The final episode of Season 2 drops on HBO Max on Thursday, April 16. Here’s when the episode lands in your timezone:

  • US – 6pm PT / 9pm ET
  • Canada – 6pm PT / 9pm ET
  • India – Friday, April 17 at 6:30am IST
  • Singapore – Friday, April 17 at 9am SGT
  • Australia – Friday, April 17 at 11am AEDT
  • New Zealand – Friday, April 17 at 12pm NZDT

The Pitt is streaming on the HBO Max app in the UK, but it’s many weeks behind the US release schedule.

What’s Happened In ‘The Pitt’ Season 2 So Far?

This season has drawn some controversy over its divisive ICE storyline, but overall it’s no more or less political than the first, which featured a major mass shooting storyline to wrap up its final three episode arc. Season 2’s

Season 2 has had its fair share of cases, so a full recap of the season so far is pretty much impossible without taking up way too much space. Instead, I’ll go over some of the highlights and loose threads.

The major conflict this season has been the hacking of a number of Pittsburgh hospitals, leading to several closing down and the Pitt itself going full analogue in order to avoid getting hacked. The doctors and nurses have had to resort to pen-and-paper and volunteer runners, and as you can imagine, it’s led to plenty of chaos. The system went back online eventually, but the day shift has had to stick around to help scan everything into the system while assisting with ongoing night shift patients.

What To Expect In ‘The Pitt’ Season 2 Finale

The loose threads remaining are:

  • The baby that was abandoned at the beginning of the season has yet to leave the hospital, and it sounds like that won’t happen until the following morning. It’s possible whoever dropped the baby off will return, or some other twist will arise, but at this point I’m leaning toward this storyline not being resolved (in real life, lots of things go unresolved, after all).
  • Nurse Jesse (Ned Brower) was arrested by ICE agents earlier this season and the staff has been trying to learn more about his location and case ever since. It’s possible we’ll find out more in the finale, but it sounds like nothing can be done until after the holiday. We likely won’t see any resolution this season, but will hear about it next season.
  • Dr. Robby and Dr. Al-Hashimi (Sepideh Moafi) learned more about her condition – minor absence seizures – which she’s suffered from since she was a child. This seems like a potentially very problematic condition for someone in charge of a busy ER, and could impact Robby’s decision to leave.
  • Speaking of which, Dr. Robby revealed to his friend, Duke (Jeff Kober), that he is having suicidal thoughts, something we’ve long-suspected ever since his helmet-less motorcycle ride into work in the season premiere. It’s hard to imagine this being resolved in one episode, but it will certainly have to be addressed.
  • Dr. Mel King’s (Taylor Deardan) deposition went very badly but we’re unlikely to learn anything more about the case until next season.
  • We know that Dr. Samira Mohan (Supriya Ganesh) is leaving after this season, and given her storyline and the nature of a teaching hospital, this is no huge surprise. We may get some sort of closure for her character in the finale.
  • Given how much of the night shift we’re seeing this season, it really feels like the show is setting up a spinoff for The Pitt: Night Shift, and we may get more clues or even confirmation of that in the finale.

Beyond this, we have a few open cases and a few more characters lingering from day shift like Whitaker (Gerran Howell), Dana Evans (Katherine LaNessa) and Santos (Isa Briones) among others. Perhaps the biggest question mark is Dr. Langdon (Patrick Ball) whose previous sins have haunted him all season.

Watch ‘The Pitt’ Season 2, Episode 15 Trailer

I’m looking forward to watching the finale, but I’m a little sad it’s almost over. Despite the fact that 15-episode seasons of premiere television are almost unheard of these days, The Pitt’s second season really flew by. Fortunately, we have lots of other shows to look forward to including Season 2 of Netflix’s excellent (and stressful) Beef and the fourth season of the hit MGM+ horror series, FROM, coming out over the next few days. Exciting times!
