There have been some complaints about Invincible this season, namely focused on the seemingly rushed animation that’s helping to get these seasons out so quickly now, but that has not taken away from the overall fact that people are really loving the series here in season 4.

Now, yet another episode of Invincible has landed an incredible score from viewers, and it’s tied the show’s all-time record, not to mention putting another episode in the list of the highest-rated in TV history.

Season 4 episode 7, Don’t Do Anything Rash, which featured an in-space battle between Viltrumites and the strongest heroes of the rest of the galaxy, has a 9.9/10 on IMDB. That is a tick above the 9.8 out of 10 for episode 5, Give Us a Moment, the second big Conquest fight in the show. And the 9.9 is tied with the first big Conquest fight, in the season 3 finale, I Thought You’d Never Shut Up

Conquest is finally dead, but now everyone has to deal with Thragg, a seemingly [TITLE CARD] Viltrumite engineered to be the race’s strongest ever. No one lays so much as a hand on him and, Thaedus instantly gets his head ripped off, Oliver ends up missing an arm, Nolan gives a hand through his stomach and the only reason Mark and the others don’t end up fully dead is because Thragg realizes that with their homeworld destroyed, they can’t really afford to go killing what few Viltrumites there are left, even if they’re currently enemies.

Thragg is just…there’s no real solution to him, it seems. Traditional methods of punching him in the face, for instance, do nothing. He would probably get cut in half by Space Racer’s Death Star gun, but Space Racer would probably lose his head before he even pulled the trigger (seriously, why are they not targeting him more?). We still have the season finale next week, and we’ll see if we get another “generational” episode then.

The 9.9/10s here tie only 12 other episodes on IMDB that also have 9.9s. It would have been 14 if not for the recent review bombing battle between Breaking Bad and A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms fans, where both of those had 10/10s at one point. The only other show to have more than two episodes at a 9.9 is Game of Thrones, with The Rains of Castamere, Battle of the Bastards and The Winds of Winter all tied with that score. Mr. Robot, Avatar: The Last Airbender, Attack on Titan and Better Call Saul are close.

Sometimes, the penultimate episodes of seasons are the ones with the most action, though that certainly did not happen in season 3 with that Conquest fight. The Viltrumites are headed to Earth, and we’ll see how that goes next Wednesday.
