The long-awaited Siri overhaul might be delayed but Apple has big plans for iOS 27. According to a new report from Bloomberg, the Cupertino-based company is planning a deeper integration of Visual Intelligence and Siri into your iPhone’s Camera app. This will allow you to scan nutrition labels on food packaging, add events to the Calendar app and more. The news comes as Apple gears up for its Worldwide Developers Conference 2026 event in June.

The iPhone Camera app in iOS 27 is said to include a dedicated ‌Siri‌ mode alongside the existing Photo, Video, Portrait, and Panorama modes. It will incorporate Visual Intelligence, which is currently activated by long pressing the Camera Control button. As a result, you’ll be able to access these Apple Intelligence features without exiting the Camera app. Pressing the Camera Control will still take you to Visual Intelligence but it will open up to the ‌new Siri‌ interface in the Camera app.

The new Siri mode will use Visual Intelligence to add new capabilities to your iPhone. For instance, you’ll be able to scan phone numbers and addresses on business cards to add that information to a contact within your Contacts app.

It will also let you capture information from physical event tickets and membership cards to generate their digital versions. Another example includes being able to scan nutrition labels on food packaging for calorie and nutrients tracking using the Health app as well as asking ChatGPT questions about the visual content.

According to the report, iOS 27 will also improve Siri’s ability to control your iPhone camera. It could let you switch between modes such as photo, video and portrait more easily.

Apple hasn’t confirmed any WWDC 2026 announcements yet, but it is anticipated to include new Siri-focused hardware products, such as smart glasses or AirPods with an updated design to analyze and interpret the surrounding environment.
