The Govee Lightwall

Chinese smart light specialist Govee is ramping up its lineup with the launch of the Lightwall: a portable LED display designed for indoor and outdoor use.
Essentially a 1,536-LED RGBIC array arranged in a 32 by 48 grid, Govee states the Lightwall has the highest LED density in its class, with a 1.96-inch pixel pitch aimed at delivering sharper visuals and smoother gradients than typical decorative panels.
The panel runs at 35 frames per second, which should help keep animations looking fluid rather than stuttery, particularly for more complex effects.
Unlike most LED panels that are built for permanent installation, the Lightwall is designed to be moved around, so has backyard parties and things like Halloween and Christmas in mind.
It uses a detachable aluminum frame that can be assembled or taken down in around 10 to 15 minutes without tools.
With an IP65 rating for water and dust resistance, it’s positioned as something that can be used outdoors as easily as inside.
As you’d expect from Govee, the Lightwall has access to an ever-increasing array of effects and scenes already baked in; we’re told it ships with more than 200 preset scenes.
Like Govee’s popular Curtain Light range, there will be scenes for different occasions in the app, and the AI Lighting Bot 2.0 can also add text-to-GIF generation too.
Users will be able to input a description and the panel will attempt to render it as an animated visual and then these can be shared with other users too.
For more advanced use, the company’s Uni-IC Control system supports up to 30 editable layers and access to a 16 million colour palette, allowing for more detailed custom designs.
There’s also built-in support for audio-reactive lighting, with 10 music modes that sync effects to sound in real time.
The Lightwall can also be linked with other Govee devices through DreamView and SceneStage, enabling synchronized lighting across multiple products.
It’s a Matter over WiFi device, so you will be able to hook it up with whatever smart home ecosystem you use but you will need the Govee app for all the bells and whistles.
The Govee Lightwall is going live today, priced at $449.99.
