Huawei Gives You An Adorable Panda Guide With Watch Fit 5 Pro’s Mini Workouts

If you wear a smartwatch daily, you might be aware of the persistent notifications that remind you to stretch your legs or get up from your seat. The mini workouts are built on this feature but expanded to bring quick guided exercises. Huawei’s idea is to encourage movement when you realistically can't go for a full workout.

The mini workouts remind you to do short exercises, such as neck circles or side stretches. You get 30 short guided movements that don’t require any equipment or much space. And you’re accompanied by an adorable panda on the dial once you trigger a mini workout. It demonstrates each movement, so you have a cute guide to accompany you through these mini workouts.

Unlike a boring ‘stretch your legs’ log on a wearable, this is a much more fun way to encourage users to add little activities throughout the day. Huawei also rewards you with new panda watch faces once you have finished a set number of mini workouts.

I’m not mindful of stretching, but if it gives me more panda dials, I’m in! It has made me more conscious about adding these small bursts of exercise throughout my day. This Watch Fit 5 Pro feature has helped me add a much-needed stretching routine to my life, which is essential given my long desk hours in a writing job.

Big Screen, All-Day Battery Life And More

The Huawei Watch Fit 5 Pro is a solid fitness tracker overall. It features a 1.92-inch LTPO AMOLED display with up to 3,000 nits of brightness and minimal bezels. The display lies under the protection of a sapphire glass lens for added durability. According to Huawei, its new wearable also has a “high-end watch oil-filling” technique to make the bezel "gleam brilliantly" from every angle.

The Watch Fit 5 Pro is easy to view in direct light and looks more premium than before. I haven’t had any legibility issues in any lighting. Plus, the LTPO panel helps it refresh every second (1Hz), which helps improve battery life.

Huawei offers the new watch in both strap and band options. I like the White Edition better, which has a “Micro-Arc Oxid” surface treatment. It supposedly makes the metal feel more ceramic-like and harder. Then there’s an Orange Edition with an updated fabric strap. It features a dual-layer water- and oil-resistant organic silicone coating. You can swap these with one button push.

The Watch Fit 5 Pro comes equipped with a crown and one push button. It has Huawei’s Sunflower positioning system, which can accurately track your location outdoors and is claimed to have better GPS performance even when you’re in a tunnel. It also adds a long-requested feature: NFC payments. You can use Curve in the U.K. to pay via your Watch Fit 5 Pro wirelessly.

Huawei’s new wearable offers excellent endurance. It promises 10 days of battery life on a single charge, and my unit has consistently lasted me more than a week with ease.

The Watch Fit 5 Pro works with both iPhone and Android (paired via the Huawei Health app). It brings nap tracking, which works quite well in real life. Its app also notifies you if you forget to wear the watch, which is helpful if you’re on a trip and forgetful like me. However, you don’t get access to Google Assistant or Siri.

The Huawei Watch Fit 5 Pro starts at £249 and is now available for purchase in the U.K., Australia, certain regions of Europe, and China.
