Monday is here, dearest Wordlers, and the weekend is sadly over. I am still sick, writing this inbetween sneezes and coughs and a good amount of grumbling and complaining to myself. I don’t even mind the sick part so much as I mind how it impacts my routine, and in particular my workout routine. How much progress you can lose in a few days of forced sedintary nonsense. Curses! In any case, we have a Wordle to solve. Let’s solve it!

Every day I check Wordle Bot to help analyze my guessing game. You can check your Wordle score with Wordle Bot right here.
CRATE only left me with 39 words, but I couldn’t convert that into a 3-guess game. I had this weird feeling that it wouldn’t be just the two vowels so I guessed ASHEN next, and that didn’t help much. 12 words remained when I tried out BLAME, and that left me with just 3. I still had that sense that there would be one more vowel and I guess WEAVE for my fourth try. Lucky for me, that was the Wordle!

I get 0 points for guessing in four and 1 point for beating the Bot. The Bot gets -1 for guessing in five and -1 for losing to me. Our new April totals are . . . a tie!

“Weave” comes from Old English wefan (“to interlace threads, form fabric”), from Proto-Germanic webaną. It’s closely related to “web,” which originally meant a woven fabric before taking on broader meanings (like spider webs or the internet).
The deeper root is Proto-Indo-European webh- meaning “to weave,” reflecting the long-standing human practice of textile-making. Over time, “weave” also developed figurative senses like interlacing ideas, movements, or paths.
