Wordle is a daily word puzzle game where your goal is to guess a hidden five-letter word in six tries or fewer. After each guess, the game gives feedback to help you get closer to the answer:
Use these clues to narrow down your guesses. Every day brings a new word, and everyone around the world is trying to solve the same puzzle. Some Wordlers also play Competitive Wordle against friends, family, the Wordle Bot or even against me, your humble narrator. See rules for Competitive Wordle toward the end of this post.
Okay, spoilers below! The answer is coming!

Every day I check Wordle Bot to help analyze my guessing game. You can check your Wordle score with Wordle Bot right here.
CHASE was a lousy opening guess today. Very unlucky, with 293 words remaining and a lonely yellow “A.” Fortunately, MORAL slashed that down to just three. I came up with VIRAL and RURAL but Wordle Bot later informed me AURAL was also an option. I normally don’t like guessing a word with a double letter at this point, but my gut told me RURAL was a safer bet than VIRAL and lucky for me, that turned out to be true!

That’s 1 point for me for guessing in three and another for beating the Bot. The Bot gets 0 for guessing in four and -1 for losing to me. With just one more day in our April showdown left, it’s possible that the Bot could come back with a big win, but I’m feeling pretty confident. It’s been neck-and-neck all month, though, at least until today, so who knows?
Erik: 22 points
Wordle Bot: 16 points
“Rural” comes from Latin rūralis (“of the countryside”), from rūs (“country, open land”). It entered English via French, keeping the meaning “relating to the countryside.”
