The official release of One UI 8.5 to older Galaxy phones started on May 6th in Korea, with the global rollout expected to happen today, May 11th. According to users on Reddit and X, the update is now starting to land on phones in the U.S. and Europe.

Galaxy S25 users in Spain, the U.S., Canada, Serbia, and Norway are reporting they have received the update in the last few hours. Beta testers in India, Korea, Germany, the U.K., China, and Poland are also now receiving the stable release of the OS update, according to Samsung tipsters Tarun Vats and Ice Universe on X.

These Samsung Galaxy Phones Will Receive One UI 8.5 In The Coming Days

Here’s the full list of devices expected to receive the update in the coming days, with legacy support expected to come to the Galaxy S23 series later. Also, as SamMobile spotted, Samsung Germany published that the “last three generations of the Samsung Galaxy A series” will also receive the update, although it’s not clear when users of the budget devices can expect it.

Galaxy S Series

  • Galaxy S25 Series: Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25+, Galaxy S25 Ultra, Galaxy S25 Edge and Galaxy S25 FE.
  • Galaxy S24 Series: Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+, Galaxy S24 Ultra, and Galaxy S24 FE.

Galaxy Z Series

  • 2025 Foldables: Galaxy Z Fold7 and Galaxy Z Flip7.
  • 2024 Foldables: Galaxy Z Fold6 and Galaxy Z Flip6.

Galaxy Tab S11 and Galaxy Tab S10 Series

  • Tab S11 Series: Tab S11, Tab S11+, Tab S11 Ultra, Tab S11 FE, Tab S11 FE+, and Tab S11 Lite.
  • Tab S10 Series: Tab S10+, Tab S10 Ultra, Tab S10 FE, Tab S10 FE+, and Tab S10 Lite.

To check if One UI 8.5 is ready to be installed on your handset, head to Settings and then Software Update.

One UI 8.5 Feature List: What Will The Update Bring To Your Galaxy Phone?

All One UI 8.5 users can expect a refreshed design with floating pill-shaped menus. There are also more customization options on the Quick Panel and Lock Screen, alongside new AirDrop compatibility via Quick Share.

The headline features are the new AI tools, although they won’t come to every device. Samsung is bringing enhanced Photo Assist, Audio Eraser, Creative Studio, and Call Screening to Galaxy S and foldable phones released after 2024 (the Galaxy S24 series and above). These features initially debuted on the Galaxy S26 series earlier this year.

For Galaxy S23 users and below, the major new AI tool in One UI 8.5 is the newly intelligent Bixby (powered by Perplexity), which can now understand natural language to find features or change settings on the phone when asked. However, it doesn’t look like Galaxy S23 users will receive the other new AI tools, which might be bad news for the phone’s trade-in price going forward.
