Apple is a partner of the TCS London Marathon

Apple

Apple, for the first time, is an official partner of the TCS London Marathon, which takes place on Sunday, April 26. There are events and activities to inspire people in the last days before it takes place.

The Marathon in London is one of the biggest in the world — more than one million people applied to enter the ballot to take part this year — and Apple’s partnership includes bringing the company’s suite of products to runners and spectators.

Runners will be training with Apple Watch, working out with Apple Fitness+ and listening to inspiring music on Apple Music. And Apple has announced events that will take place in the days and hours before the big event.

Race Day Inspiration And 5K Shakeout Run

For example, there’s a 5K run on Thursday, April 23. It will follow on from a community event held at the Apple Brompton Road store in Knightsbridge called Race Day Inspiration. The event will be chaired by Cory Wharton-Malcom, the Apple Fitness+ trainer whose specialty is running. And the panel includes Hellah Sidibe, Becky Briggs and Sherica Holmon. The event will include training tips for runners before the 5K shakeout run in Hyde Park (which is right next to the Brompton Road store).

Live Podcast With Paula Radcliffe

Two days later, on Saturday, April 25, also at the Brompton Road store, Paula Radcliffe, the British former marathon world-record holder will record a live episode of Paula’s Run Club, the podcast she hosts with Chris Thompson, the British long-distance runner and former Olympian.

The podcast is going to deal with training and, in what can only be called good timing on the eve of the marathon, they will talk about race-day mindset as well as the role of technology for runners. They’ll be joined by Cory Whaton-Malcolm.

Apple Music Playlist

On the day of the marathon, Apple has what it calls the Ultimate Marathon Playlist which lasts seven hours and is made up of hand-curated favourites, and “exclusive mixes from race-day DJs will also be available on Apple Music following the race,” Apple says.

There are also events for students such as an Apple Hour of Play event with PE-Style activities for children aged 10 to 14. And from Monday, April 20, Apple Fitness+ has a new program called 4 Weeks of Strength for Runners, which is a collaboration with Strava.
