Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has allowed voluntary work for home for its Nashik employees following protest marches in the city condemning allegations of sexual assault and coercion cases. Simultaneously, the National Commission for Women (NCW) has constituted a fact-finding committee to look into the allegations.

Around 300-400 women marched from the TCS’ Nashik office towards the Collector’s office on Thursday afternoon and submitted a letter condemning the alleged crimes against the seven accused in the nine FIRs. Local police deployed in the area said the march was peaceful and ended without incident.

Meanwhile, TCS gave employees the alternative to work from home following reports of sloganeering outside TCS office.

NCW To Investigate TCS

A four-member fact-finding committee set up by the NCW is also set to visit TCS office on April 17, Friday and draft a report under the directions of the commission.

The Committee comprising Justice Sadhna Jadhav, Retired Judge of Bombay High Court, B. K. Sinha, Former DGP Haryana, Monika Arora, Supreme Court Advocate and Lilabati, Senior Co ordinator, NCW will be submitting the report within 10 working days.

This report will be based on an on-the-spot inquiry at the TCS facility in Nashik as well as other relevant locations, examine the circumstances leading to the incident and assess the response by authorities. Further, members will interact with victims, police officials, company representatives, and other relevant stakeholders, identify lapses, if any, and recommend appropriate action against those found responsible. It will also suggest remedial measures to prevent recurrence of such incidents and to strengthen safety mechanisms for women in workplaces.

Coordinated Probe

This investigation will run alongside a company investigation declared by Tata Sons Chairman N Chandrasekaran and led by Aarthi Subramanian, Chief Operating Officer at TCS. Currently, a 12-member SIT under an ACP-rank officer is probing the matter, while coordinating with the Intelligence Bureau, Anti-Terrorism Squad and National Investigation Agency.

Earlier, IT representative body NASSCOM said the Indian technology industry operates under strict governance frameworks and unequivocal standards for employee safety, and workplace conduct. It stated that any instance of misconduct or harassment “is isolated in nature and does not reflect systemic pattern within the industry.”

Last week, the Nagpur police had arrested seven individuals Tausif Attar, Danish Sheikh, Shahrukh Qureshi, Raza Memon, Ashwini Chaunani, Shafi Sheikh and Aasif Ansari. Another accused Nida Khan is absconding. The police received nine FIRs from women employees alleging a host of accusations from from July 2022 to March 2026. One survivor also alleged false promises of marriage by one of the accused.
