Workouts, walking, and boundaries... not burnouts

1. Discipline: In my 50s, fitness remains a consistent part of my life. I train with a personal trainer at the gym three days a week. Having that structure keeps me consistent and ensures that exercise remains a priority, even during demanding work weeks.

2. Walking: When not at the gym, I walk. It’s a simple habit that helps maintain stamina and gives me time to clear my mind. Even during phone calls, I walk and talk. It’s an easy way to stay active and avoid long hours of sitting.

3. Boundaries: Over time, I’ve realised fitness is as much mental as it is physical. I try to compartmentalise stress and maintain clear boundaries between work and personal life. That helps me stay focused and prevents burnout.

4. Consistency: For me fitness is less about extremes and more about consistency. A balanced routine that includes strength training, walking and mindful breaks helps sustain both energy and productivity.

5. Resilient: Fitness is not something that becomes important after a certain age. It has always been a priority. Staying fit builds the foundation for a healthier lifestyle and helps remain energetic, productive and resilient in everyday life.
