Lenovo’s laptop portfolio covers a wide range of users. Lenovo’s ThinkPad lineup is aimed at business and professional users, while its Legion range is designed for gaming enthusiasts. For mainstream consumers, the IdeaPad series has long been Lenovo’s dependable everyday laptop range. With the IdeaPad Slim 3i Gen 11 in for review, here’s a closer look at what works in its favour, and it where might fall short.
Measuring 16.9 mm thick and weighing 1.49 kg, the Lenovo IdeaPad slim 3 Gen 11 is relatively light for a 15.3-inch laptop, making it easy to carry between work and home. The version I reviewed was Luna Grey, and there is a Cosmic Blue variant as well.
The chassis felt sturdy, though the combination of a metal lid and plastic lower half prevents it from feeling as premium as some rivals. While the laptop did face some screen wobble when opening it, the hinge was too stiff to open with one hand. The matte finish on the display lid kept fingerprints and smudges to a minimum

While the display works well for everyday productivity and video streaming, its 45 per cent NTSC colour gamut limits colour richness and vibrancy, making it less suitable for content creators and users who prioritise colour accuracy. The IdeaPad Slim 3i Gen 11 features a Full HD webcam with a physical privacy shutter. Image quality is adequate for video calls and online meetings, with sufficient detail.
Audio from the top-firing speakers was adequate for everyday use, with Dolby Atmos tuning helping to add a little extra fullness to music and video playback. The loudness levels were sufficient for personal listening and the speakers remained free of noticeable distortion at higher volumes. However, they lacked the balance, detail and depth needed to bring vocals and instruments to life, making the overall audio experience enough for day-to-day use.
The IdeaPad also offers a practical port selection, including two USB-A ports, a USB-C port with Power Delivery and DisplayPort support, HDMI 1.4, a 3.5 mm audio jack and an SD card reader. While the SD card slot is useful for creators, the single USB-C port can be limiting when charging and connecting Type-C peripherals simultaneously.
Lenovo’s signature chiclet-style keyboard features 1.3 mm key travel and delivers a comfortable, tactile typing experience for extended sessions. The Precision Touchpad is smooth, responsive, and reliable for everyday navigation and multitouch gestures. Overall, the laptop prioritises practicality and portability, making it a good fit for students and professionals.
The review unit was powered by Intel’s Core Ultra 5 322 processor, paired with 16 GB of RAM and a 512 GB SSD. In day-to-day use, the laptop handled productivity tasks, web browsing, media consumption and multitasking with ease, delivering the level of responsiveness expected from a modern mainstream notebook.
In synthetic benchmarks, the IdeaPad scored 924 in Geekbench 7 single-core test and 7,496 in the multi-core test, reflecting solid performance for everyday workloads and light creative tasks. While it is not intended as a high-performance workstation, the laptop felt adequately powered for office work, content consumption and routine multitasking for general home users and students.
The integrated graphics also proved capable of some casual gaming. During testing, GTA V ran at around 60 fps on low to medium settings with no noticeable frame drops, making it suitable for older and less demanding titles. Thermal performance was equally good, with the laptop remaining cool and comfortable during extended use.
The laptop is powered by a 60 Wh battery that delivers solid endurance for everyday use. During testing, it comfortably lasted between seven and nine hours of mixed workloads, which included web browsing, writing, social media posting and video streaming. Under more demanding tasks such as video editing and gaming, battery life dropped significantly, lasting between 50 minutes and 1 hour 35 minutes, depending on the workload.
Charging is handled by a bundled 65W adapter, with the added flexibility of USB-C Power Delivery support. This allows the laptop to be charged using a compatible USB-C charger. Lenovo’s rapid charge feature is another advantage, providing up to two hours of use from a 15-minute charge, making it convenient for users who need a quick top-up before heading out.
The Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3i Gen 11 may not be the flashiest laptop in its segment, but it delivers where it matters most for everyday users by offering reliable performance, a comfortable keyboard, good battery life and a practical, portable design that works well for productivity, web browsing and media consumption. The mixed-material build and minor screen wobble are not significant dealbreakers in an otherwise well-rounded package.
Starting at ₹1,09,991, this laptop faces competition from high-end configurations of the Asus VivoBook S15 and Dell 15, some of which offer stronger overall value at similar price points. Even so, for buyers seeking a dependable, no-nonsense laptop focused on everyday functionality rather than top-end specifications, the IdeaPad Slim 3i Gen 11 remains a capable and sensible choice.
