As part of CHI2026’s commitment to creating spaces for connecting and conferring, CHI in conjunction with the CHI Steering Committee offers an opportunity for Early Career Researchers (ECR, see below) to informally meet over their conference lunchboxes.

Monday 13 April: 1pm-2pm, Banquet Hall

Note, food purchased outside the venue is not permitted in the venue and lunchboxes need to have been pre-ordered as part of your registration before 3 March.

Collect your pre-ordered lunchbox and bring it with you to the Banquet Room and join a table. No preparation or application required. We will provide some conversation kick-starters on the tables.

This is an opportunity for you to meet people in a similar career stage and to share experiences, as well as tips, tricks and strategies for navigating this career stage.

There will also be more experienced researchers from the CHI community and CHI Steering Committee in the room to share perspectives and engage in conversation.

We take a broad inclusive definition of ECR and leave you to self-identify if you think you will benefit from, or have something to offer, peers.

As a guide, you are in the early stages of your career following the completion of your PhD or equivalent training. This may include researchers in post-doctoral positions, individuals transitioning between academic contracts, those seeking faculty positions, or those who have recently started faculty roles, such as lecturer or assistant professor, depending on the academic system you work in. It may also include those in the early stages of an industry research or industry practitioner position.

Add this event to your CHI Schedule. We look forward to meeting up in Barcelona!
