PS: I don’t ever use WiFi nor Bluetooth, iwlwifi was a previous cause of a freeze (if you can give me a more suitable solution than keeping the WiFi & Bluetooth off in KDE that would be great, TIA!

Yes, the freeze did not happen to me on LTS but I mainly use CachyOS for gaming and an LTS Kernel is not the best choice, yes I know I can game on it nevertheless but it isn’t the best choice

Can you please share a way to scan the RAM? I.E like memtest86+, please note that I use Limine

You don;t need to check RAM but this:
journalctl -k -b | grep -i nvidia
journalctl -k -b | grep -i “taint”
and
uname -a
pacman -Q | grep nvidia

because: Kernel 7.0.10 and NVIDIA 595.71.05 is exactly the sort of combination where occasional crashes can come from the graphics stack.

There’s plenty to find online about this combo.
If you want to move ahead quikly try the linux-cachyos-bore kernel, see how that goes.

Hi,

Since iwlwifi (Intel Wi-Fi/Bluetooth) is causing the hard freezes, it is likely a power management or signal conflict issue. You can try disabling Wi-Fi power saving and Bluetooth coexistence by creating a modprobe configuration file.

Run these commands in your terminal and reboot

Disables Wi-Fi power saving (prevents the driver from crashing during low power states)

echo “options iwlwifi power_save=0” | sudo tee /etc/modprobe.d/iwlwifi.conf

Disables Bluetooth coexistence (prevents signal conflicts between Wi-Fi and BT)

echo “options iwlwifi bt_coex_active=0” | sudo tee -a /etc/modprobe.d/iwlwifi.conf

NOTE : If those don’t solve the problem, you can try changing the kernel.

I remember I saw on one of my researches to never, ever game with an LTS Kernel, I am running one BTW now because I’m sick of the freezes and I will keep this post updated if I ever find any limit, I will be sure to try on the regular one before posting

For what it’s worth — the things that actually drive gaming performance on Linux (Mesa, DXVK, VKD3D, Proton) all live in userspace and don’t care which kernel you’re running. The LTS kernel disadvantage is mostly relevant for very new hardware that needs recent driver support baked in. On your i7-12700H + RTX 3070 Ti, that’s not your situation.

If LTS stops the freezes, that’s a win. You’re not leaving performance on the table.

Yes, I guess with the summer and the new requirement to stock the room with fans (I have a triple one under the laptop), and the lack of obvious errors on the log, the dust is a culprit, I will continue to keep watch and meanwhile I will look for an tiny air blower

On previous times I found the laptop frozen after a long absence but this time

A freeze happened in front of me live, when it happened, the machine was veeeery hot (I used 4 e because it nearly burned my hand, that’s how hot it was, and I tolerate hotness more than some people)

hello, a type of a freeze is not really a “freeze” but it’s everything shuts down on the machine, except the OS, as in ALL peripherals don’t work, except the power button
