I read “No Native Night Light: The “Night Light” feature is planned for future updates and is not yet available in the settings.”
There’s a way around this. I tried x11 and RedShot works. I’m only interested in this desktop.
There is currently no native Wayland 3rd party night-light application. You have to find a funky workaround like using custom ICC color profiles or something (if Cosmic already supports that). The only color-changing effect I know works on Wayland is nvibrant: GitHub - Tremeschin/nvibrant: 🟢 Nvidia Digital Vibrance on Wayland · GitHub, which is only for saturation and relies on the NVIDIA graphics driver doing the work.
The reason X11 does work is because it’s old and the color adjustment features are very mature/easily accessible there. You’re just out of luck right now. Only the major desktop environments like KDE and GNOME have first-party Wayland night light and color calibration solutions. They unfortunately cannot be installed on Cosmic without switching desktop environments.
If I were you I’d go with KDE or a window manager until Cosmic is more developed.
