Houston – July 3, 2026 – As the United States marks its 250th anniversary, its story of progress continues to be shaped by a distinctly American spirit of ingenuity: bold ideas, scientific discovery, entrepreneurial ambition, and the belief that progress is strongest when it creates opportunity for others.
As the United States celebrates this Fourth of July, HPE honors the innovators who came before us, the customers and partners building what comes next, and the team members across HPE who continue to move bold ideas forward.
America’s innovation story has always been shaped by people who see possibility where others see limits and who do the challenging work to build what comes next, from the country’s founding ideals to the entrepreneurs and engineers who helped define Silicon Valley. HPE is proud to be part of that legacy.
Our story traces back more than 85 years, when Bill Hewlett and Dave Packard built their first audio oscillator, launching a company that would become an enduring symbol of American entrepreneurship and technological ambition. What began with precision instruments became something much larger: a belief that engineering, done with purpose, can help people and organizations move forward.
Over the decades, that belief has taken many forms. Hewlett-Packard Company began with the Model 200A audio oscillator, an early breakthrough in electronic measurement, and went on to help define scientific calculators, business computing, personal computing, and printing. In 2015, the company separated into two independent companies: HP Inc., focused on PCs and printing, and Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE), focused on enterprise technology.
Today, HPE focuses on innovation where technology can have the greatest impact, enabling organizations to advance how people live, work, discover, and compete. HPE technology supports researchers modeling disease, energy systems, and weather patterns with greater speed and precision; hospitals, governments, manufacturers, and businesses using data to make better decisions and protect critical operations; and organizations strengthening infrastructure, connecting communities, and turning ideas into action. For generations, HPE has helped put innovation to work through technology that supports faster discovery, more resilient services, smarter operations, stronger cybersecurity, and new ways to solve hard problems.
America’s 250th anniversary is a reminder that innovation is never one moment. It is a continuum of curiosity, courage, and collaboration, and the belief that bold ideas can create opportunity and progress. As the United States celebrates this Fourth of July, HPE honors the innovators who came before us, the customers and partners building what comes next, and the team members across HPE who continue to move bold ideas forward. The next era of innovation will be shaped by many hands and many ideas, and HPE is proud to help build the technology foundation that turns possibility into progress.
Launched in 1939 by Bill Hewlett and David Packard, Hewlett-Packard Company is known as the original Silicon Valley startup. Today Hewlett Packard Enterprise is a leader in essential enterprise technology, bringing together the power of AI, cloud, and networking to help organizations unlock their boldest ambitions.
