Vivo V70 Elite: A premium mid-ranger with flagship ambitions
By Siddharth Mathew Cherian · 2026-02-25 · via Latest News on Mobiles & Tablets | The HinduBusinessLine

Vivo’s V-series has carved out a loyal niche by balancing high-end camera optics with sleek aesthetics at a ‘medium flagship’ price point. The new V70 series, comprising the V70 and V70 Elite, aims to push those boundaries further by introducing more robust hardware.

I’ve spent time with the V70 Elite — the more ambitious sibling of the two, to see if its hardware and design truly justify the premium branding in an increasingly crowded market. Here is my take on whether it lives up to the Elite tag.

Design

The Vivo V70 Elite is impressively sleek, measuring 157.5×74.3×7.6 mm. This slim profile makes it incredibly pocketable, even when shared with other essentials, while its 194g weight hits the sweet spot enough to feel premium without being cumbersome for long-term use.

The device is constructed with an aerospace-grade metal frame featuring softly rounded corners that melt into the palm. This is complemented by a precision-engineered metallic camera module and a unique metallic-grit glass on the rear, which provides a sophisticated texture that resists fingerprints while catching the light beautifully. Altogether, these elements elevate the V70 Elite into a premium segment usually reserved for much more expensive flagships.

My review unit was in Passion Red, a bold, bronzed-metallic hue that is both striking and sophisticated. For those who prefer a more classic aesthetic, Vivo also offers the device in Authentic Black and Sand Beige, providing a solid range of options whether you want to stand out or stay understated.

Display

The Vivo V70 Elite is equipped with a 6.59-inch 1.5K AMOLED panel. The display supports a 120Hz refresh rate and reaches a peak brightness of 5,000 nits, ensuring visibility in high-ambient light conditions.

While watching Kohrra on Netflix, the AMOLED panel came to its true self produced high contrast and deep black levels. A key design highlight is the 1.25mm ultra-narrow side bezels, which contribute a claimed 90.7 per cent screen-to-body ratio. The flat-screen design and minimal bezels provide an edge-to-edge viewing experience, making it effective for streaming and high-definition multimedia content.

Sound

The Vivo V70 Elite features a stereo speaker setup that maintains a high level of clarity and detail. In testing, the audio remained well-defined up to 80-90 per cent volume. Listening to Shakthisree Gopalan’s Puthu Mazha from Sarvam Maya, both the vocals and instrumentation were rendered clearly within this range. However, pushing the volume beyond 90 per cent resulted in a flatter sound profile with a noticeable loss in dynamic range.

When paired with the 1.5K AMOLED display, the V70 Elite provides a capable hardware combination for high-definition video and music. The lack of distortion at high volumes (below 90 per cent) makes it a great option for media consumption.

Performance

The V70 Elite is powered by the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 processor, paired with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage. While positioned as a “flagship-tier” chipset, it sits slightly below the top-tier 8 Gen 3 in raw compute power. In synthetic benchmarks, the V70 Elite delivered an AnTuTu score of 1,856,061, placing it competitively between the Poco X7 Pro (1,883,155) and the OnePlus Nord 5 (1,810,893).

Running on OriginOS 6 based on the Android 16, the device handles multitasking and high-demand applications without noticeable lag. During gaming and benchmarking sessions, heat management remained well-controlled, with the chassis maintaining a comfortable temperature under load.

However, the out-of-the-box software experience is somewhat cluttered. The interface includes several pre-installed first-party apps such as V-Store and the Vivo App Suite — which often sit alongside their Google equivalents. Additionally, notification frequency from the V-Store was notably high.

Camera

The Vivo V70 Elite features a triple rear- camera system co-engineered with ZEISS, led by a 50 MP main sensor and a 50 MP super telephoto lens, both featuring OIS and autofocus (f/1.88 and f/2.65 respectively). Rounding out the setup is an 8 MP ultra-wide lens (f/2.2).

In practice, this is a strong combination: the main and telephoto sensors deliver excellent contrast and detail, handling both daytime portraits and wide landscapes with ease. Low-light performance is equally impressive, with nighttime shots successfully maintaining clarity with minimal noise. While the ultra-wide lens is less capable than its counterparts, the overall system remains a significant win for mobile photography enthusiasts.

On the front, the 50 MP ZEISS selfie camera includes autofocus and accurately captures skin tones and facial textures without over-smoothing. With the inclusion of ZEISS tuning across the board, the overall imaging experience remains quite good.

Battery

The Vivo V70 Elite is equipped with a high-capacity 6,500 mAh battery. In real-world usage including voice calls, video streaming and music playback and a bit of photos and video, the device consistently delivered approximately 8 hours of screen-on time, comfortably lasting over a full day and a little more before requiring a recharge.

Vivo includes a 90W FlashCharge power brick in the box. This charger is capable of taking the battery from 0 to 100 per cent in about 1 hour and 5 minutes, which is a respectable speed given the significantly larger battery capacity.

Conclusion

The Vivo V70 Elite has a lot going for it, offering a great design, good performance, and excellent photos from the main and telephoto cameras. There are just slight hiccups, such as the softness in the wide-angle camera and the inclusion of roughly 7–8 pre-installed Vivo and system apps which clutters the software experience.

In a market featuring the OnePlus 13s and Motorola Signature both of which have their own strengths and misses. The V70 Elite stands out as a strong contender. With an MRP around ₹65,999 for the top-tier storage variant, it is a premium investment. But if you are looking for a phone that gets most of it right and remains competitive, the Vivo V70 Elite is a solid option.

Vivo V70 Elite

Price: ₹65,999 (12+512 GB version)

Pros: Sleek design, good performance, great cameras.

Cons: Average ultra-wide sharpness and pre-installed apps.
