Air Seychelles will resume direct weekly flights between Tel Aviv and the tropical nation's largest island, Mahé, starting from August 20, the airline announced on Sunday.

"This will reopen convenient, direct, and fast access for Israelis to the beautiful islands of the Seychelles, as well as a short and convenient connection of about an hour and a quarter to the airline's connecting flight to Mauritius," Air Seychelles said.

The flights will last approximately 6 hours and 20 minutes, and will depart Ben-Gurion Airport on Thursdays at 4:50 a.m., landing in Mahé at 12:10 p.m.

The return flight will depart Mahé on Wednesdays at 9:30 p.m., landing in Tel Aviv at 2:50 a.m. on Thursday mornings.

According to the airline, "this schedule will allow Israeli passengers to enjoy a full week's vacation on their beloved islands."

The flights will be operated on the airline's Airbus A320 aircraft, with two class options - economy and business, with each ticket including a meal and 30kg. of baggage allowance, the airline said.

Israel, Seychelles maintain close tourism ties

The airline describes itself as "one of the most loyal foreign airlines to the Israeli market," adding that it has "been careful to maintain continuous contact between Israel and Seychelles even during times of crisis in recent years."

Israelis regularly travel to the island nation, located in the Indian Ocean, east of Africa. The airline describes Israel as "one of the main markets for incoming tourism to Seychelles."

The airline made its first flight to Israel in November 2019, The Jerusalem Post reported at the time.
