Infoblox Supports the Next Generation of Cybersecurity Ta...

As cyberthreats continue to evolve, so does the need to inspire and equip the next generation of cybersecurity professionals.

At Cyber Battle Australia, students did more than compete, they stepped into a real-world cybersecurity environment designed to challenge their thinking, sharpen their skills and open doors to future careers.

The Capture the Flag (CTF) style event, built around mission-based learning, gave participants the chance to play, compete and develop real-world cybersecurity skills in a high-pressure, hands-on environment.

Throughout the event, players put their knowledge into action by collecting “flags” inside a virtual IT environment powered by a world-class, NATO-awarded cyber range. Designed by leading Estonian cyber companies CTF Tech and CyberExer, the experience reflected the same high standards behind the annual NATO Locked Shields exercise, one of the most recognized cyberdefense exercises in the world.

For students and emerging cyber professionals, Cyber Battle offered something incredibly valuable: a practical glimpse into what a career in cybersecurity can look like. By moving beyond theory and into hands-on problem solving, the event helped participants understand where to begin, which skills matter most and how they can start building a pathway into the industry.

That impact is why Infoblox was proud to sponsor this initiative.

Supporting events like Cyber Battle aligns strongly with Infoblox’s commitment to education, mentorship and the future of the cybersecurity industry. By helping bridge the gap between classroom learning and industry experience, opportunities like this create clearer pathways for students to explore cybersecurity and see themselves in the field.

Infoblox’s presence at the event also highlighted the importance of industry engagement. Tim Hartman, head of Sales Engineering for Australia and New Zealand, had the honor of presenting the second-place award, recognizing the outstanding effort and capability shown by the competing teams.

Cyber Battle also created real mentoring outcomes, including two opportunities Tim has already taken forward as a direct result of the event. “I enjoy mentoring the cyber battle students because they have actively chosen early in their professional life to pursue a career in cyber. I’ve coached them to pursue their goals, continue focused learning and be their best. I had a mentor early in my career named Garr Sexton, GM at Symantec in the mid-1990s who was invaluable. Everyone deserves a leg up,” said Tim.

These connections reinforce how meaningful hands-on industry engagement can be for students exploring cybersecurity, helping them move from interest to confidence by better understanding the field, identifying where to begin and receiving practical guidance from experienced professionals.

For Infoblox, sponsoring Cyber Battle was also a strong reflection of our mission in action. Backing initiatives that invest in future talent, support mentorship and strengthen the broader cyber ecosystem demonstrates the kind of leadership that matters both to the industry and to the communities we serve.

Cyber Battle shows what is possible when education, industry and innovation come together. It is an inspiring model for how we can support the next generation of cyber professionals, and Infoblox is proud to have played a part in that journey.

Students deep in the Cyber Battle.
