about fitness [ Tong-H ]
2026-07-28 · via Tong-H

I’ve been stick with working out for five or six years. training four or five times a week, lots of time i’ve spending on it, and it has become an important part of my life. from this point of view, i wanna to see if i can take it to the next level, and make it a bigger part of my life.

last week, i enrolled in a training for the national fitness trainer certification. a certificate isn’t necessary for be a fitness trainer, but many large fitness centers require one. i lack of structured training knowledge, and over the years I’ve developed my own preferences and habits, like some exercises i completely avoid, while some i perform it in my own way. and coaching someone else requires a different skill set. there’s a huge different between performing an exercise yourself and tech others to perform it correctly.

the course is divided into two parts, theory and practical training. it’s harder than i imaged. the theoretical knowledge is mostly about the anatomy and physiology of the human body. it’s not easy for someone who has no background in human anatomy. the practical training covers movement patterns, stretching exercise and how to assist others in performing exercise safely. mostly importantly, as a trainer, you need to know how to explain the movements to others, including the direction of force, muscle activation, etc.

besides those knowledge i’m learning, the people there are definitely fitness enthusiasts. most of them have great physiques and fit the stereotype of what a fitness enthusiast looks like. I’ve always felt a little embarrassed wearing workout clothes outside the gym. but those days, being around them has helped me reduce that feeling and become more confident. few of them are already working in this field, so talking with them has helped me learn more information about the industry.
