Ryan Wohl gives his best bet for Ben Whittaker vs. Richard Rivera at tonight’s massive boxing event in Brooklyn, New York.
Ben Whittaker continues his boxing career with a fight against Richard Rivera on tonight’s massive card at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. This card is headlined by Xander Zayas vs. Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis in a significant Super Welterweight title fight.
Check out my pick for Ben Whittaker vs. Richard Rivera below.
Whittaker enters this fight with a record of 11-0-1 with eight career knockouts. In the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games, Whittaker won a Silver Medal. He began his professional boxing career in July 2022, and in less than four years, he has become one of the sport’s rising stars.
Whittaker is from the United Kingdom and has fought only in his home country or Saudi Arabia. This will be his first career event taking place in the United States. His opponent, Rivera, is 27-2 with 20 knockouts and is on a two-fight winning streak.
In this fight, Whittaker is a big -2000 favorite with Rivera being a +900 underdog on DraftKings Sportsbook. Whittaker is three inches taller (6’3″ vs. 6’0″) with a two-inch reach advantage (75″ vs. 73″). His physical advantages should allow Whittaker to pressure Rivera and break him down. Since Whittaker is such a big favorite, I’m taking him to win this contest in Rounds 1-2 at +600. Since having a draw against Liam Cameron in October 2024, Whittaker has scored three straight knockouts in the first two rounds. I expect Whittaker to remain ultra-aggressive, especially since it is his United States debut.
